This role will be integral to the energy transition and empower our Energy and Financial Risk team.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Head of Energy and Financial Risk, you will be at the helm, driving the delivery of Energy and Financial risk excellence within our organisation. This position is central to our energy transition journey and involves crafting and maintaining dynamic policies and frameworks that seamlessly integrate new energy projects, innovative retail offerings, and emerging commodities into our portfolio.
Collaboration is key, as you will regularly engage with our Wholesale, Retail, Future Energy, and Finance teams to ensure that positions are accurately recorded, valued and reported while vigilantly measuring and monitoring financial risks in accordance with the board-approved risk appetite. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in nurturing talent within the Energy and Financial Risk team, ensuring they are well-equipped to support our business transformation. Joining the Finance and Corporate Services leadership team, your role will be pivotal in shaping CS Energy's future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft and execute the Energy and Financial Risk operating plan;
- Advocate for value-driven, risk-conscious decision-making in line with our risk appetite;
- Provide visionary leadership on critical energy and financial risk management matters;
- Foster functional leadership and bolster capabilities across the Energy and Financial Risk team;
- Act as a voting member of the Market Risk Committee;
- Deliver quarterly reports to the Board Finance, Risk, and Assurance Committee, spotlighting energy risk exposures.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
- Academic qualifications in finance, business, economics, mathematics, or a related field;
- Post-graduate qualifications in risk, finance, or a relevant discipline;
- Eligibility to qualify as a Responsible Manager (AFSL);
- AFMA accreditation as an individual;
- Fifteen years of distinguished experience in Financial Services and/or Energy Risk Management;
- Prior experience in developing and implementing a robust risk management function;
- Proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing market-focused risk management programs;
- Leadership experience with proven ability to effectively manage and engage internal and external stakeholders;
- A track record of achieving objectives within tight timeframes.
