Senior Control System Engineer
THE OPPORTUNITY
A key member of the Engineering team, the Senior Control Systems Engineer supports the Control Systems Engineering Superintendent in management and development, strategy, and delivery of relevant engineering discipline. The role supports the operational sites by providing expert guidance and support to operate the site control systems & OT network safely and cost effectively in accordance with organisational strategy, while sustaining asset integrity and life. Responsible for improving plant performance, availability, and cost effectiveness this role works across boundaries to implement developed capital projects and improved processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Active coaching and mentoring engineers to increase their knowledge, skills and capabilities;
- Implement controls for key asset risks;
- Provide scoping and return to service sign off of the Control Systems Major Overhaul Scope;
- Identification and development of key engineering projects to meet regulatory compliance, risk control, plant whole of life plans and plant improvement opportunities;
- Provides technical oversight for plant, regular travel to CS Energy Generation Sites;
- Ensure compliance with plant change processes including records management;
- Ensure compliance with Functional Safety Standards (SIL/SIS);
- Oversee and complete activities to meet asset related regulatory compliance;
- Provide technical leadership for Control Systems Capital Projects;
- Develop and execute projects that deliver sustained and/or improved plant performance cost effectively;
- Develops appropriate maintenance/engineering strategies using reliability centred maintenance practices;
- Review and approve Plant Modifications within level of technical competency;
- Complete reporting, investigations and contribute technically in various forums, as required.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in an appropriate discipline or similar qualifications.
- RPEQ certification.
- Minimum 10 years experience of thermal power stations or heavy industry preferred.
- Previous experience with Siemens or similar Distributed Control Systems and PLCs preferred.
- A solid understanding of Asset Management principles and their application including equipment strategy, business risk management, RCA investigations and plant modifications.
- Plant modification process, enterprise risk management, whole of life asset planning process, capital budget development process and continuous improvement process.
- Project management, cost management and management of multiple priorities.
