The opportunity

As a Project Manager within CSIRO’s Information Management and Technology (IMT) team, you will help deliver strategic digital and technology initiatives that enable world-class science. IMT supports the organisation’s technology environment, from enterprise ICT and high-performance computing to digitally enabled research programs.

Working across key initiatives within CSIRO’s Data & Digital, Information, Technology & Platforms, and AI Roadmaps, you will lead multiple projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and partner with stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes.

You will thrive in a collaborative, agile environment that values innovation, adaptability, leadership and continuous improvement.

High-level duties include:

  • Manage multiple, and complex, projects using methodologies appropriate to the project and the context (i.e. agile, kanban etc)
  • Deliver projects to scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectation and with appropriately mitigated risks
  • Support and enable team members to do their best work
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues and escalates any that may impact delivery
  • Facilitate creation, review and stakeholder acceptance of project management products and deliverables
  • Lead change management associated with the delivery of projects

Role particulars

Location and office arrangements: Open to CSIRO site locations in Australian major cities.

Salary: AU$118,102 – AU$127,808 per annum, plus 15.4% superannuation

Tenure & work schedule: Specified term of 3 years

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

Essential criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience with a minimum of 12 months in project management within the ICT sector including management of multiple projects simultaneously
  2. Demonstrated success in delivering projects to scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectation
  3. Displays effective communication skills with all staff, clients, and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s productivity and reputation.
  4. Experience working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, often regionally dispersed team and business unit to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO objectives.
  5. Proven ability in applying sound judgement in relation to resolving project delivery issues

Desirable

  1. Experience or formal training in project management associated with the delivery of major/complex projects; and
  2. Effective transition of new products or services into the business-as-usual operational environment.
