The Opportunity
As an Analytical Chemist, you’ll be a part of the Materials Characterisation and Modelling Program at CSIRO providing routine and specialised chromatography support to researchers.
You will be responsible for contributing to delivering team outcomes and will require working closely with internal and external clients analyse sampled and write reports. To excel in this role all you require is technical skills, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new skills and build new capabilities to ensure the high standard of our characterisation facilities.
Your duties will include:
Location: Clayton, VIC
Salary: AU$68k - AU$86k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in analytical chemistry or separation science.
- Demonstrated experience in chromatography method development, for both liquid (eg UHPLC, HPLC) and gas chromatographies. Experience in taking analytical methods and successfully scaling up to preparative (multigram) separations.
- An understanding of the data produced by the various techniques and the ability to determine whether the results are expected, accurate, and correct, and to troubleshoot where they are not.
- Demonstrated experience in the routine maintenance and ad hoc repairs of complex scientific equipment, in particular, chromatography systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the production of standard operating procedures and training programs along with supporting technical, operational, training, and safety documentation.
- Experience working under a quality management system in a regulated environment, such as GLP/GMP, ISO9001, ISO17025, etc. Experience developing analytical methods and associated documentation, including design, validation, execution, and reporting.
