The Opportunity

We have an excellent opportunity for an EHS Specialist to join the CSL Seqirus Australia EHS team, based at our Tullamarine manufacturing site on a 12month FTC.

Reporting to the Site EHS Director you will provide advice and assistance on Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs. You will be part of the Environment Health Safety (EHS) Tullamarine team ensuring business compliance under relevant legislation and continuous improvement and act as a principal EHS contact for allocated departmental programs and Operational Readiness.

Your Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring actions comply with: CSL’s Code of Responsible Business Practice, CSL’s Global Quality Policy, CSL’s Quality Manual, Current Good Manufacturing Practice and CSL’s Health, Safety & Environment Management System

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, ease of doing business and process, policy and procedure simplification. Facilitate co-operation between management and employees in developing and carrying out measures designed to proactively identify and manage closure of EHS issues through relevant committees and teams

  • Facilitate incident investigations and be a first point of contact for EHS matters, ensuring EHS matters are diligently and effectively managed and administered. Participate in incident investigation analysis and ensure corrective actions are enacted and closed.

  • Provide end-to-end EHS support for the commissioning, start-up and transition to routine operations at the Woodend site.

  • Lead development, implementation and execution of the Woodend EHS Operational Readiness Plan, ensuring EHS risks are identified, assessed and controlled prior to operations commencing.

  • Facilitate EHS risk assessments (e.g. commissioning, operational, task-based and change-related risk assessments) and ensure effective risk controls are implemented and verified.

  • Lead deployment of the emergency preparedness program compliant to requirements of relevant standards. Coordinate incident and emergency response programs as part of the EHS team.

  • Support project and engineering teams during commissioning activities, including design reviews, safety in design, and pre-start EHS readiness checks.

  • Develop EHS specific training packages as per training matrix, facilitate or deliver EHS training as required.

  • Assist with regulatory readiness activities, inspections and interactions with external authorities as required.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary educational institution, preferably within the disciplines of OHS, Engineering with demonstrated EHS experience.

  • Preferably at least 3 years professional experience in a Manufacturing or EHS related function

  • Experience in reporting to government and other regulatory authorities

  • Knowledge of and exposure to AS4801 and Commonwealth National Audit Tool management system elements

  • Strong communication skills, influencing and coaching skills

  • Strong presentation and reporting skills

  • Ability to promote and operate in a collaborative work environment

Location: Tullamarine, with 1-2 days a week in Woodend
