The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join the Antibody Discovery & Protein Engineering group. Based in our Research Department at the Bio21 Institute in Parkville, you will apply high-quality molecular biology skills, focusing on the isolation and engineering of human therapeutic antibodies and other proteins, principally using phage and mammalian display technologies. Under the guidance of senior members of the group you will become a key player in the optimisation of therapeutic antibody and other protein drug candidates designed to treat human diseases with high, unmet medical needs.
Your Responsibilities:
- Perform phage display and mammalian display experiments to isolate and engineer therapeutic lead candidates.
- Perform relevant molecular and biochemical experiments and provide scientific and technical knowledge to allow high-quality characterisation of recombinant antibodies and other therapeutic proteins.
- Explore and establish new research techniques and processes, in collaboration with senior colleagues.
- Participate at research group meetings and present work.
- Work collaboratively across multiple internal groups, participating on project teams to achieve common goals.
- Share expertise and develop relationships with team members.
- Manage all laboratory and project documentation.
- Maintain awareness of the field of protein engineering.
Your Experience:
- PhD or equivalent qualification, backed with demonstrated expertise in an academic or industry environment.
- Ability to work independently, outstanding attention to detail, time management and organisational skills, complemented by excellent communication skills.
- Experience with protein display technologies or previous work with therapeutic antibodies will be regarded.
