The Opportunity:
CSL is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Bioanalytical Sciences team at CSL Melbourne for an 11 month fixed term position. You will play a key role in developing new assays and qualifying current assays. You will be involved in preparing development reports and assay protocols for new test methods.
You will report to a Senior Scientist and undertake the following roles and responsibilities:
- Develop new assays and qualify assays in consultation with a Senior Scientist
- Perform routine assays in support of process development activities using assays such as (but not constrained to) HPLC based (SE-HPLC, IEX-HPLC RP-HPLC) and glycan analysis
- Technical transfer of methods in and out of the department
- Collate, record and present experimental data to colleagues at departmental/project meetings
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on critical instrumentation and ensure compliance with quality control procedures (includes liaising with instrument engineers)
- Work closely with other CSL departments
Essential Qualifications and experience:
- Honours (or equivalent) degree in relevant field (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical). Higher postgraduate degrees, e.g. PhD, will be well regarded.
- At least three years laboratory experience in separation sciences or protein biochemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences with an emphasis on instrumental analysis
- Experience in assay development of HPLC assays
- Familiarity with software for controlling analytical instruments, e.g. Chromeleon, Empower or Chemstation for HPLC
