The Opportunity
CSL has an opportunity available for a permanent, full time Senior EHS Specialist to join our team. Working as part of the EHS team, provide advice on Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs across CSL businesses.
You'll be a principal OH&S contact for allocated departmental programs and provide advice and assistance on Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs across CSL businesses. and work as part of the Environment Health Safety and Sustainability (EHS) team to meet business compliance under relevant legislation and continuous improvement.
Working across our Parkville and Tullamarine sites, the role partners with CSL businesses in ensuring CSL activities meet high standards for environmental, health and safety management and to drive continuous improvement.
Reporting to the EHS Site Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, ease of doing business and process, policy and procedure simplification. Facilitate co-operation between management and workers in developing and carrying out measures designed to proactively identify and manage closure of EHS issues through relevant committees and teams
- Facilitate incident investigations and be a first point of contact for EHS matters, ensuring EHS matters are diligently and effectively managed and administered. Participate in incident investigation analysis and ensure corrective actions are enacted and closed
- Coordinate EHSMS verification activities to support continued certification to CSL Global EHSMS as a requirement of maintaining CSL self-insurance status. Actively support internal stakeholders to comply with requirements of relevant EHS legislation
- Lead development and deployment of allocated EHS critical programs from strategic plan and act as EHS representative for engineering projects and initiatives as required for location
- Lead deployment of the emergency preparedness program compliant to requirements of relevant standards. Coordinate incident and emergency response programs as part of the EHS team
- Complete EHS management systems monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives as part of EHS team. Implement initiatives that improve departmental management of EHS. Review statistics and other reports to identify trends and preventative action measures applicable to base location
- Develop EHS specific training packages as per training matrix and facilitate general EHS education and communication workshops as required
- Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals in the team
- Provide support and back-up work functions to other EHS team members as required
Your skills and experience
- Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary educational institution, preferably within the disciplines of OHS, Environmental studies, Engineering or Science related studies
- Preferably at least 5 years professional experience in a Manufacturing or EHS related function.
- Experience in reporting to government and other regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of and exposure to EHS Management systems standards and Commonwealth National Audit Tool management system elements
