ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team and help shape the future of our cloud-native data platform. This is a Greenfield role giving you the opportunity to design and build solutions from the ground up, influence architecture decisions and set best practices for the future.
In this role you will design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure ensuring data is reliable, secure and ready to power insights across the business. You will collaborate with BI Developers, Analysts and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that drive smarter decisions and better outcomes for our customers.
Essential Duties
Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform and load data into our Azure cloud data warehouse.
Develop and maintain data engineering solutions using Azure and selected cloud-based platforms and tools.
Collaborate with BI Developers, Analysts and Business Stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
Implement data quality checks, monitoring and governance practices across pipelines.
Work with cross-functional teams (Architecture, Infrastructure, Security) to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
Participate in all stages of the data engineering lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment and documentation.
Other Duties
Shape and evolve the architecture of our cloud data platform, ensuring it scales with business growth.
Contribute to the development of best practices and reusable frameworks for data ingestion and transformation.
ABOUT YOU
Essential
Proven experience in cloud-based ETL/ELT development, ideally in Azure.
Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering tasks.
Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark.
Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and best-practice modelling.
Ability to work independently and manage complexity in a dynamic environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Other
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to other cloud platforms and a range of data ingestion tools.
Familiarity with data governance and security frameworks.
Education & Experience
Essential
Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
Other
Experience with Databricks, Python, Azure Data Factory, and SQL Server is highly desirable.
Experience ingesting real-time data (telemetry data) would be a bonus.
