ABOUT THE ROLE
This SME Account Manager role reports to the SME Sales Manager - ANZ, who is based in Auckland. This role is all about owning and growing relationships with a portfolio of SME customers while delivering standout service and hitting, or exceeding, monthly targets!

You will be the go‑to partner for your customers building trust, driving retention and uncovering opportunities to grow volume and products within existing accounts. You will be successful in this role by understanding how your customers operate, you will help them run their fleets more efficiently, more safely and more confidently.

This is a hands‑on role that blends customer service, account management and commercial thinking. You will work closely with internal teams, keep CRM systems up to date and play an active role in improving how we serve our customers.

Essential duties:

  • Be the friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for customer and supplier enquiries via phone and email.

  • Deliver high‑quality service within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of SME customers, focusing on retention and long‑term value.

  • Proactively manage Account Replacement Plans and Vehicle Optimisations across Modifications.

  • Champion commercial excellence through strong account planning and salesforce discipline.

  • Identify and uncover opportunities for volume, unit and product growth.

  • Help customers get the most out of Custom Fleet’s products, services and technology.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver seamless and end‑to‑end customer outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date customer records in CRM systems.

  • Support workflows such as quote generation, analysis and customer onboarding.

Other duties:

  • Spot inefficiencies in processes and suggest smarter ways of working.

  • Actively contribute ideas to improve systems, processes and customer experience.

  • Participate in cross‑functional projects and long‑term improvement initiatives.

  • Jump in to support additional tasks as needed to keep things running smoothly.

Education & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Business or a related discipline highly regarded, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least 2+ years’ experience in client account management, ideally within a B2B service environment.

Other:

  • Experience or exposure to fleet management, leasing or automotive services.

  • Strong problem‑solving ability, resilience and a customer‑first mindset.

  • Process‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple steps and stakeholders.

  • A collaborative team player who builds trusted relationships across the business.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Other

  • High energy, positive attitude and a desire to make things better.

  • Comfortable sharing ideas and contributing to innovation and system improvements.

  • Able to adapt communication style to suit different customers and stakeholders.
