Technical Trainer

The role:
This role is responsible for the coordination, delivery, co-design and continuous improvement of Daimler Truck technical training across Australia for our brands, Freightliner, Fuso and Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Working within a collaborative team of passionate, driven and technically minded trainers, you contribute to the on-going technical development of staff within our independent dealer network.
Based in our Mulgrave Training Academy and reporting into the Training Academy Manager, your key responsibilities will be:
- Delivery of product and technical training courses, ensuring training is delivered in a meaningful and engaging manner to achieve set learning objectives and on time and on budget
- Collaborating with the training team to ensure alignment at all times, also ensuring that administration support of training records, reports and accounts are kept up to date
- Ensuring all required training courses and resources including venue, vehicles, handouts and travel are booked in a timely and cost effective manner
- Ensuring maximum occupancy in training courses for optimisation of resources and costs
- Keeping communication up to date with global headquarters, regarding current training concepts; and
- Maintaining an awareness of industry trends and developing training strategies to incorporate new learning methodologies
- Maintain equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for program participants
Who we are looking for:
To be successful you will ideally have previous experience in delivering training, in a product or technical capacity within the automotive industry. If you have prior After Sales Retail experience as a technician, this is an excellent career development opportunity. A small part of the role will involve travelling to different locations within Australia and New Zealand to deliver training throughout the year, so a flexible approach is necessary. In addition, we value flexible work arrangements, so when not travelling or directly delivering training, there would be opportunity to work from home if required. Ideally you have strong technical experience and a truck and bus driving license. You will have outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills, essential for communicating and presenting to external partners at all management levels. Additionally, you will have exceptional time management and decision making skills with the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
A strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package and an interest in developing and building sustainable and individual training programs is essential.
A high school certificate and tertiary education in the area of Automotive or Heavy Commercial Vehicle repair is preferred.
