Debt Advisory - What do we do? We work closely with private and public clients to provide debt advice across the full spectrum of debt markets. We assist CFO's and treasury teams arranging debt funding and refinancing requirements associated with maturing debt facilities and new funding requirements for acquisitions, growth capital initiatives and other debt related projects. The Deloitte Debt Advisory practise works closely with the Deloitte M&A and Private Equity Advisory client practises as well as a wide range of Deloitte's other leading client practises.
About the team
The Debt Advisory Group comprises a team of highly experienced debt professionals based in Sydney and Melbourne and linked to our global network of 180 offices. Our team works closely together on providing our clients with funding ideas, strategic advice, pitching and winning debt funding transactions through to the execution of raising debt. We also maintain a very close relationship with lenders within Australia, Asia and Globally, including local and foreign banks and credit funds whom support the deals we arrange and provide advice on.
What will your typical day look like?
You will assist the team with market and industry research, preparation of PowerPoint presentations and proposals and various aspects of specific deal execution.
More specifically your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Working with the team on a range of live debt advisory engagements with regular interaction with clients and lenders
- Assisting the team with day-to-day management of transaction processes including the preparation of information materials, client presentations and financial analysis
- Financial modelling including analysing business forecasts, evaluating scenario analysis and covenant calculations
- Contribution to client and lender marketing and business development activities
This is a client and lender facing role and therefore the role will assist you build your communication and client management skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Our preferred candidate is a natural collaborator who is a commercial thinker and solving technical problems. Prior Debt Advisory or corporate lending experience is preferred and you may have a background of working in corporate or investment banking or professional services firms.
You will also have:
- A sound commercial acumen and an understanding of financial markets debt-related products and trends across debt capital markets
- A commitment to and proven experience in delivering an exceptional service to clients with an ability to work quickly and establish effective working relationships
- At least 5 years' experience in a Debt and or Banking related roles with associated hands-on experience in debt structuring credit analysis and financial modelling
- Strong analytical skills and an understanding of financial statements
- Excellent numeracy skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to absorb and analyse data quickly and an ability to undertake detailed financial analysis for inclusion in presentations and client reports
- Logical and methodical approach to problem solving
- Quality project management and organisational skills
- The self-confidence/appetite to be involved in business development activities
- A degree in finance, economics, accounting or mathematics with a relevant post-graduate qualification preferably (e.g. CA CFA or Masters in Finance)
