Digital Specialist – North Australia Development Program
- Based in Northern Australia - flexible work hours
- Contract role – end date 30 June 2023
Overview
The Northern Australia Development Program (NADP) provides grants and a business advisory service to enable northern Australia based businesses, including Indigenous businesses, to grow and diversify. The aim of the NADP is to create new jobs in northern Australia and strengthen business capability and resilience.
The intended outcomes of the program are:
- Increased employment opportunities
- Increased business turnover and profitability
- Greater diversification of business in Northern Australia
The Northern Australia Development Program has two elements:
1. Northern Australia Development Program Grants - delivered through two separate grant opportunities:
- Northern Australia Business Development Grants – providing funding for small to medium enterprises, including indigenous businesses, to take the next step to diversify or grow their business through undertaking new activities including infrastructure and assets, feasibility studies, business planning and marketing activities.
- Northern Australia Industry Transformation Grants - providing funding to businesses aiming to establish a new industry or significantly grow the value of an existing industry and contribute to transformational change in a region.
2. Strengthening Northern Australia Business Advisory Services - providing eligible Northern Australian businesses with access to face-to-face advice and or workshops to build long-term resilience and business strength.
The Service
NADP Digital Specialists sit within the ‘Advisory Services’ element. They will provide advice and support to NADP clients in order to help them improve their business knowledge when selecting and implementing digital systems.
The intent of the service is to increase digital engagement, business capability, confidence and awareness when navigating the digital technology landscape. The Digital service is technology and vendor agnostic, providing objective and independent advice for NADP clients.
Common requirements by NADP clients may include information relating to ERP, CRM, eCommerce, Inventory platforms, among others. The Digital Specialist may also provide guidance on social media, digital marketing and other front-of-house digital initiatives.
The Role
By joining the NADP, you will provide impactful and meaningful support that helps lift capability and performance of Northern Australian businesses. You will work with a Business Facilitator to help solve digital and technology related challenges that NADP clients may face. As part of the Deloitte team, you will have access to a range of internal learning and development tools to help build your skills and experience whilst supporting career growth and development.
The role of the Digital Specialist includes, but is not limited to:
- Providing relevant, written and verbal advice and guidance to customers
- Working with NADP clients to define and diagnose constraints addressable by digital solutions
- Provision of a one-to-one digital service tailored to the needs of NADP clients
- Providing independent advice on suitable solutions along with expert advice on implementation
- Liaising with software vendors and service providers in order to understand product offerings and services – and how they could help alleviate issues that clients face
- Providing the Department with business intelligence
- Undertaking other activities agreed by the Department
All Digital Specialists will have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of teams, to achieve good outcomes for the NADP. Part of the Digital Specialist role will include conducting peer reviews to drive quality, share insights, information and data to enhance NADP impact.
Professionalism and high personal standards of ethics and behaviour are of the utmost importance, as Specialists will represent both Deloitte and the Australian Government. You must at all times act to maintain the good reputation of the Northern Australia Development Program.
As a subcontract role, there is flexibility in work hours and these are aligned to you meeting your KPIs as discussed and agreed with Deloitte.
Skills and qualifications
You will be proactive and client focused with a proven track record of creating positive business outcomes with a digital and technology lens.
Experience
- Senior level, typically 10 years’+ experience within digital or technology, within a business or as a consultant across a variety of sectors
Digital, technology and ICT
- Knowledge and understanding of businesses, how they operate and a broad understanding of the barriers they face in adopting new digital technology
- Ability to translate complex digital insights into simple terms – for businesses that may not have a strong understanding of digital products or concepts
- A background in a broad range of software, including general ERP, CRM, accounting packages etc.
- Strong understanding of how to increase profile and brand through social media/ digital marketing
Project management
- Ability to manage several complex customer engagements concurrently and to a high quality
- Ability to formally track and report on customer progress in a regular and timely manner
Collaboration and connectedness
- Ability to engage with technology vendors and understand technical language, but also be able to clearly and concisely communicate ideas and concepts to non-specialists
- Advanced stakeholder, relationship and client management and engagement skills and experience
Other
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to succinctly communicate complex information
- Experience (or the ability to transfer relevant skills) to undertake and manage the delivery of services to businesses within a government program
- Experience working with local Indigenous communities is preferred
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while also being part of a dispersed team
