About the team
We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish.
Our M&A Consulting Services Team focuses on the deal cycle - including assessment of deal targets with commercial and operational due diligence, pre-deal analysis, deal execution and implementation. We provide support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value, and helping our clients navigate complex deal processes.
What will your typical day look like?
You will develop an impressive range of commercial consulting skills that will multiply your career options. Benefiting from client exposure and learning from the top practitioners in the field, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of some of the largest, most complex and high-profile deals in Australia and internationally.
You will grow and develop yourself in providing advice to Deloitte’s vast portfolio of clients – from private, international and national corporations to private equity firms. You will help them realise the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions in the commercial assessment acquisitions (CDDs & ODDs), potential merger synergies and carve-outs, stand-alone performance improvements, and in the planning and execution of integration and separation projects.
As a Senior Consultant you will also explore opportunities like;
- Engage with colleagues and client C-Suite / senior management to assist with the completion of actions, management of risks and issues and facilitation of decision making to fulfil programme objectives and deliverables
- Contribute to the development of strategic growth options for clients across a diverse range of industries
- Develop your consulting skills in strategic thinking, target assessment and due diligence, operating model design and change management
- Perform financial analysis and due diligence for the proposed transaction
- Prepare acquisition / carve out business cases for review by key stakeholders
- Develop and deliver integration or separation strategies to extract maximum value from the transaction
- Support the development of key transaction documents e.g. Transitional Service Agreements and Executive Board Reports
- Assist with the execution of the transaction, including blueprinting and Day-1 (Completion) readiness planning
- Provide programme management support on our engagements
- Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
You are someone with:
- Bachelor’s degree or post graduate qualification (e.g. CA / CFA / MBA)
- Previous Strategy or programme management experience on complex/large projects, ideally from a leading corporate institution or consulting firm
- Natural aptitude to problem solving and structured thinking
- Core strategic toolkit with an appetite to further develop
- Familiarity with the broader deal-oriented process and environment
- Excellent financial, analytical, and research skills
- Pragmatic commercial acumen – able to identify risks and develop solutions to manage those risks
- Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with ambiguity and change
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Natural aptitude to problem solving
