We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated and experienced individual to join the team to provide advice, consultation and specialist support to internal stakeholders on a wide range of ethics, risk, compliance, and conduct areas, with a focus on Integrated Compliance and Incident Management. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide or Perth, and we offer excellent work from hom flexibility.

What will your typical day look like?

You will be positioned within the Australian Ethics & Conduct Team, managing the Integrated Compliance and Incident Management portfolios. You will be looking after the development, ongoing improvement, and oversight of compliance/risk management and ethics within your scope, to enable client-facing teams to deliver outstanding client service of the highest quality, in compliance with applicable obligations and safeguarding our brand and reputation.

Daily role responsibilities vary but include advising and consulting on compliance/risk management frameworks, systems and processes, risk appetite, compliance culture, ethics, and incident management (including complaints handling and whistleblower protection).

It will also be your role to ensure that our compliance, risk and quality management frameworks and systems (including incident management and remediation) are effective, efficient, appropriately documented, and evidenced. As well as ensuring that we have a risk appetite framework that include clear risk metrics and tolerances, that are measurable and monitored.

You will also support the development and implementation of decision support systems and other tools to embed effective compliance risk management, as well as initiatives that foster the desired risk and compliance culture across Deloitte, including leading working groups, managing complaints, non-AFSL investigations and other ethical incidents.

About the team
The Ethics & Conduct Team sits within the Quality & Risk community, and is a collaborative team, providing critical support to enable the Firm’s partners and staff comply with their applicable obligations. The key compliance areas in which we provide specialist support are: financial services (AFSL), anti-money laundering, whistleblower protection, modern slavery, anti-corruption, ethics, sanctions, trade controls, complaints handling, and ISQM1. The Australian Conduct Team & Ethics Team is part of an Asia Pacific structure that encourages collaboration with colleagues across the Asia Pacific region.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
Ideally, you will have 7+ years’ experience in some of the following areas:

Risk and compliance management in:

  • Financial services/AFSL;
  • Financial crime - Anti-money laundering, sanctions, trade controls, anti-corruption;
  • Compliance investigations and assessments;
  • Incident management (including complaints handling); and
  • Whistleblower protection.

Additionally, you will:

  • Understand complex issues and exercise sound judgement (including to escalate where required to senior team members);
  • Be proactive, positive and risk aware;
  • Effectively collaborate with other professionals within Deloitte and be a contributing team player;
  • Have strong communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Have strong analytical skills and be proficiency in interpreting and applying rules and obligations;
  • Be able to work independently and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and deliver to a high standard; and
  • Be confident in managing business relationships and possess a strong client service ethos.
