Overall Role Purpose
As an Ocean Freight Export Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Arranging the timely and efficient handling of all required export documentation in accordance to customer and destination requirements;
- Arranging bookings with carriers / co-loaders and executing all pertinent shipping documentation;
- Creating/ confirming transport orders to ensure pickup of the shipment at origin and following up on shipment status within the Export area;
- Identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposing solutions to improve operations
- Be a key contact for customers; handling customer inquiries and requests and assisting with customer complaints resolution
- Proactively communication to customers regarding shipment status and exceptions; and
- Managing the day to day export transactional and operational requirements
- Full container load operator role

- Builds rapport and trust with customers by being informed about customer’s business and the market
- Assesses the type and size of customer needs
- Recommends solutions based on customer needs by using industry knowledge
- Closes business connecting a customer need with a DHL solution and the value it may create for the customer
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight operational roles (advantageous)
- CargoWise system experience required
- Sound knowledge of Freight Forwarding and Logistics in general
- High degree of reliability
- Be a team player with a positive can do attitude.
- Be results driven and be able to demonstrate strong communication and administration skills
- Possess a high degree of attention to detail and a professional work ethic.
