We currently have a vacancy for the Head of Ocean Commercial Centre (OCC)/ Product Capacity Management (PCM) in our Ocean Freight Product team based in our Melbourne Head office.
Location: Preferred location is Melbourne, Australia however the base location is not limited.

Overall Role Purpose
Head of OCC/PCM is responsible for:
- Support the Australia Ocean Freight team (Nationally and in station) to achieve the budget.
- work with the sales team and assist them with competitive market pricing in order to retain and at the same grow the customer base (profitable growth)
- Joint sales calls with sales.
- Support niche product development (Reefers, Out of Gauge, Breakbulk, Sea-Air)
- Ensures execution of OFR procurement strategy in country (LCL/FCL and Transport)
- work together with regional and global colleagues to improve buying rates and secure space
- Escalates local shipping line issues to Regional Route Management or local supplier KAMs
- Transport procurement for LCL and FCL transport together with the stations, ensure competitiveness
- work with our local vendors ensure service quality
- Ensures OFR global rates are implemented/adhered to
- Ocean Freight Trade Lane development together with sales and overseas product colleagues

Accountabilities
Impact
- Joint sales call with the Sales team.
- Route management development (RDM) for specific trade lanes together with overseas and local product and sales teams.
- Support niche product development (Reefers, Out of Gauge, Breakbulk, Sea-Air)
- Manage local vendor relationship with shipping lines, Transport companies and CFS operators
- Coordinates execution of global procurement strategy for OFR at country level (end-to-end incl. inland logistics and depot as well as demurrage management).
- Ensures local procurement (incl. inland logistics)
- Is responsible for adherence to globally negotiated contracts
- Is responsible for optimizing local OFR procurement for spot quotes and consolidation opportunities
- Sets internal rates for local procured activities and checks the internal rates set centrally for the own country
- Escalates local carrier performance issues local supplier KAMs and to Regional Route Manager when required
- Understands the CO2 efficiency of OFR transport emissions.
- Container space/equipment management and escalations together with regional and local team
- Lead OFR pricing activities and ensure timely, efficient and globally / local competitive RFQ responses
- Guide regions/countries on pricing and RFQ activities. and monitor timely and accurate updating of local tariffs
- Oversee RFQ development and clearly communicate guidelines for development of RFQs, particularly for high priority RFQs provide detailed guidance and for critical RFQs conduct launch calls
- Analyse complex issues, benchmark, identify opportunities and introduce best practices for OFR pricing focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
- Head up OFR Thermonet and OFR secure product.
- Assist sales in growing the product
- support operations team and ensure we are GDP compliance and review processes on a regular basis.

- Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance
- Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipment
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum ten (10) years previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight operational roles (advantageous)
- CargoWise system experience required
- Extensive knowledge of OFR forwarding business and carrier/supplier landscape
- Proven track record in people management role (leadership, motivation and people skills)
- Demonstrates strong communication capabilities
- Excellent negotiation skills
