The role
As a Principal Inspector, you will play a pivotal role within a specialist team of inspectors responsible for preventing major incidents at Western Australia’s highest‑risk industrial facilities. You will lead and undertake in‑depth technical audits, targeted inspections and performance reviews, critically assessing the adequacy of barrier management, risk controls, governance arrangements and operational discipline. Your expertise will be applied to evaluating how operators design, implement and assure critical controls for high‑hazard scenarios throughout the facility lifecycle.
Strong communication and influencing skills are essential, as you will engage with senior industry representatives and other stakeholders to drive improvements in process safety performance, while maintaining an effective, professional regulatory presence. Your ability to provide technical leadership, exercise sound regulatory judgement and contribute to a high‑performing team will be key to success in this role.
