2 x Senior WorkSafe Inspector/Investigators – Level 6 (MIS21187 & MIS21186)
WorkSafe Inspector/Investigators – Level 5 (MIS21185)

The Opportunity
WorkSafe is looking for experienced investigators and/or OSH professionals, skilled in conducting high profile, challenging and complex investigations into serious workplace injuries and fatalities.
Already an experienced Investigator/Inspector, you will have an inquisitive and analytical mindset, be comfortable with complex information in a changing environment, be proactive and outcome driven and have the ability to see how your work contributes to the bigger picture and supports legislative reforms.
In these roles, you will use best practice and contemporary investigative techniques and standards to complete efficient and timely investigations. You will be responsible for conducting the full range of investigative process including interpreting and applying relevant legislation and policy; collecting, appraising and compiling evidence; and producing high quality investigative written material for legal proceedings and criminal prosecutions.
Your track record of delivering results within a team in a changing environment, genuine commitment to deliver high-quality investigative regulatory services, and significant personal integrity and high ethical standards will be pivotal to your success in this role.

We want to hear from articulate, thinking professionals, experienced in juggling multiple priorities and investigations. You will be adept at reviewing and evaluating information using a variety of techniques. The roles require exceptional communicators, able to engage with a range of stakeholders that possess excellent interview/written skills.
These positions are located in Cannington, however, you may be required to work at other sites as required. The Cannington office is conveniently close distance from public transport, a local shopping centre and secure onsite parking. What are we looking for?
You can apply for either the level 5 or level 6 positions, or both. Please clearly indicate on your application which role/s you are applying for.
Level 5
To be considered for level 5 roles, it would be advantagous for you to have a Certificate IV or higher qualification in occupational safety and health/work health and safety or equivalent relevant industry experience.
Please submit a resume and cover letter (of no more than three pages) addressing the following role related requirements:
Your demonstrated experience in:
- Conducting investigations using recognised investigative methods, skills and associated standards and/or demonstrated practical experience in the application of the Western Australian (WA) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act 1984 or equivalent relevant legislation.
- Conducting interviews of witnesses in accordance with legal obligations and recognised contemporary standards.
- Producing quality investigative written material including compiling summaries and reports, proactive written material and documenting evidentiary assessment and briefs for criminal standard prosecutions.
Level 6
To be considered for level 6 roles, it would be advantagous for you to have a Diploma or higher qualification in occupational safety and health/work health and safety or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Your significant demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
- Conducting highly complex, sensitive and/or high profile investigations using recognised investigative methods, skills and associated standards and/or demonstrated practical experience in the application of the Western Australian (WA) Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act 1984 or equivalent relevant legislation.
- Producing high level investigative written material including compiling summaries and reports, proactive written material and documenting evidentiary assessment and briefs for criminal standard prosecutions.
- Contributing positively to high performing investigative teams, and coaching and guiding less experienced team members.

The Psychometric assessment to measure critical thinking and decision-making skills will also be included as a component of this assessment process.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies for appointment (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) throughout the department for the next twelve (12) months.
