We have four permanent appointments available to join our WorkSafe Investigations Teams working out of our office in Cannington.
These positions
Do you have investigative skills and experience in a regulatory, safety and or general industry? We are looking for you. You will need these skills and experience to succeed in this role as you will be conducting highly complex and sensitive investigations into serious incidents, injuries and fatalities where there may have been breaches of the relevant safety legislation.
You will be primarily focused on, though not limited to, investigating workplace incidents across a variety of industry sectors.
If you are a capable investigator with industry specific experience, an understanding of hazards, risk and controls, including an understanding of safe systems of work, you have the skills we are looking for.

Our Directorate investigates fatal and serious workplace incidents to determine whether duty holders have complied with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020. Where will you work?
This position is located in Cannington. Get away from the city and enjoy the benefits of this location, close to a major shopping centre with food and entertainment activities.
Easily accessible by public transport. Please note, the Armadale/Thornlie line will be closed for 18 months from mid-2023 and replacement bus services are planned.

This office is light and open plan, with breakout areas, spacious meeting rooms and multiple kitchen areas. What does a typical day look like?
We work in a dynamic and busy environment where no two days are the same, as inspectors/investigators within the Investigations Directorate respond to fatal and serious incidents that occur across all industries and workplaces in all locations across Western Australia.
What are we looking for?
To be competitive for this role, please submit a detailed resume and covering letter (of no more than 2 pages) addressing the role specific requirements listed in the JDF including;
- Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations using recognised investigative methods, skills and associated standards and/or demonstrated practical experience in the application of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 or equivalent relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting complex and challenging investigative interviews in accordance with legal obligations and recognised contemporary standards.
- Demonstrated experience in producing quality investigative written material including compiling summaries and reports, proactive written material and documenting evidentiary assessment and briefs for criminal standard prosecutions.
You are required to hold a current Western Australian C or C-A class driver’s licence or equivalent for this role.
This position requires the flexibility to travel within the state and working outside normal business hours.
All requirements, capabilities and pre-employment checks listed on the attached JDF will be assessed as part of the selection process. Pre-employment checks will include; a national police check, a medical including Q Fever screening and vaccination if required, a pre-employment conflict of interest declaration and a psychometric assessment.
The psychometric assessment will be included as a selection method within this process.
