Remuneration package of up to $183,611 per annum*
*Remuneration is based on salary $124,347- $132,904), superannuation and attraction and retention incentive (ARI) payments (of $37,417) and leave loading. ARI payments are subject to periodic review and approval. The ARI payment is set to expire on 5 February 2024. Extension of the ARI payment beyond that term is subject to further government decision.

Within the WorkSafe Group, the Mines Safety Directorate administers the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, promoting occupational safety and health for people involved in the exploration, mining, extraction and processing of mineral resources. Functions include, occupational safety regulatory services - mining operation, inspections, audits and investigation, national uniformity initiatives, promoting safety and health outcomes, including education and information and technical assessment and review, including statutory approval processes.

The position
In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to drive safety management reforms across the mining sector in Western Australia. The positon will assist the Regional inspectors to implement national WHS reforms through the development and implementation of best practice standards and achievement of the Mine safety directorate operational plan.
As an inspirational leader, you will have extensive industry knowledge with an ability to monitor and evaluate health and safety projects and operations against performance measures and cost effectiveness
A genuine commitment to deliver high-quality services, a confidence to lead by example, being adaptable, and effective communicating capability to operate at multiple levels and stakeholders will be the key to your success in this role.
This position is located in 1 Adelaide Terrace (however, you may be required to work at other sites as required). Conveniently close distance from public transport and nearby City of Perth parking. What are we looking for?
To be considered further, please submit a detailed CV and covering letter (of no more than 2 pages) addressing the following;
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership and team building to encourage high performing teams in a multi-disciplinary environment to achieve strategic objectives and culture change.
- Experience and knowledge of the mining industry in an Australian or International context, and thorough knowledge of WHS with a mining focus is essential to the role.
- A degree relevant to the operations of the resources sector and/or, post graduate/vocational qualifications, or training in occupational, safety and health, or risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, understand and adapt to communication style and message to suit a range of audiences, including the ability to negotiate effectively and convey information and structures via written and oral communication
