About us
Within the Resource and Environmental Regulation Group the Geological Survey and Resource Strategy Division (GSRSD) is responsible for the facilitation of investment through the provision of geoscience data and products and for setting strategic resource policy.
The Resource Strategy Branch of the GSRSD delivers policy advice and analysis on the State’s resources sector including coordinating input on interagency and intergovernmental matters. The branch also provides statistical information and undertakes economic and financial research and analysis.

The position
As Research and Statistical Officer, you will be responsible for collating data on the minerals and petroleum industry, and play a key role in the publication of statistics and analysis.
You will maintain and modify data bases and data files, ensuring the accuracy of data and timely publication of statistics. You will also contribute to the preparation of reports, briefing notes, and answers to parliamentary questions, on minerals and petroleum industry data.
It is essential for you to demonstrate experience in data collation and management using Excel and possess well-developed research and statistical analysis skills. Your verbal and written communication skills as well as your ability to collaboratively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders is also critical for your success in this role. Your knowledge of Western Australia's minerals and petroleum industry would be an advantage.
This position is located in East Perth, conveniently close distance from public transport and nearby City of Perth parking. Whether it’s enjoying the tranquil Queens Gardens or the riverside foreshore, you’ll be spoilt for choice. You will also enjoy onsite lifestyle facilities, including bike lockers, fully equipped change rooms and personal lockers. Hybrid working may also be available with flexibility to work from home as per discussion with your manager.
