Within the Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection Group, the Consumer Protection Division investigates complaint matters arising from consumer purchases of goods and services in all market sectors including retail, automotive, marine, tenancy, properties and services sectors. The Retail and Services Directorate is responsible for directing community education, dispute conciliation, compliance and enforcement to effectively detect, disrupt and remedy improper practices relating to retail and service industries by the Consumer Protection Division. WA ScamNet also forms part of the Retail and Services Directorate and is responsible for profiling and combatting the most prevalent scams targeting Western Australians.

About the Role
As an Investigations Officer, you'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for conducting thorough investigations into consumer complaints, ensuring compliance with relevant Consumer Protection laws.
Your role will involve preparing investigation plans, obtaining witness statements, conducting formal interviews under caution with persons of interest, and preparing comprehensive, briefing notes, investigation reports and Briefs of Evidence that meet departmental and evidentiary standards. Your recommendations will be sustainable and crucial in resolving consumer protection issues.
To succeed in this position, your expertise in identifying potential breaches of legislation through meticulous analysis and comparison of information will be crucial. Your skills in conducting methodical information collection, along with your exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, will be valuable assets. Additionally, your proficiency in utilising various office software and data systems will contribute significantly to the success of our team's investigations.

This position is located in Perth, located at 140 William Street, directly above the Perth Underground train station, getting to work will be easy.
