About the role

As the General Manager of Financial Accounting and Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and providing leadership for the Financial Accounting and Procurement Branch within the Finance Directorate. Your responsibilities will encompass offering expert strategic and technical guidance across various related areas while prioritising a customer-centric approach in the evaluation and enhancement of financial management policies, procedures, and systems. In addition, you will be instrumental in driving operational efficiencies and ensuring compliance with statutory, legislative, and policy obligations, as well as meeting audit requirements on behalf of the department.

Your success in this position will hinge on your extensive expertise in overseeing a wide spectrum of financial services. Equally crucial will be your demonstrated proficiency in team management, underscored by your ability to cultivate and sustain robust professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

In your application, please provide a detailed resume outlining your work history, education and professional development and covering letter of no more than two (2) pages, addressing the following points:

  • High level of practical and technical experience in managing a broad range of Finance services in a medium to large agency and ensuring compliance with the Financial Management Act 2006, Accounting Standards and other relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team to meet performance objectives including demonstrated success in building and maintaining a high level of professional standards in an environment that requires automated and innovative solutions to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders together with strong negotiation and consultation skills.

Please note that a tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, business or equivalent and membership of CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the National Institute of Accountants or an appropriate recognised overseas accounting body, will also be required for this role.
