About the role
As Media Communications Officer, you will play a key role in coordinating effective communication between the department and news media. You will create and refine a wide range of content, including media responses, media statements, contributions to external publications and online content. Your role will also involve providing strategic advice to support departmental and executive officers.
We are seeking applicants with a background in media, public relations, or communications. Your expertise in media coordination, as well as your proficiency in conceiving and executing public relations strategies, will be highly valued, as will an ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
About us
Corporate Communications Branch is responsible for all aspects of the department's corporate communications and marketing functions including internal and external communications, media relations, public relations, social media, website content and development, and issues management. The branch provides strategic advice and support to the Director General, the executive team and across the department.

Where will you work?
This position is located in East Perth, accessible by public transport and with reasonably priced City of Perth parking options nearby. You may also need to work at other metropolitan sites when required.
