The role

Consumer Protection promotes fair trading and consumer protection in Western Australia. The Regional Services Branch works directly in the regions, representing Consumer Protection and assisting with all aspects of Consumer Protection.

As the Senior Regional Officer (Goldfields), you will play a pivotal role in delivering Consumer Protection's services to consumers and traders in the region. You will establish and maintain collaborative working relationships and networks with the regional community and proactively respond to emerging issues to support a fair trading environment for all. You will help to resolve consumer disputes by assessing issues and engaging with parties, meeting face to face if necessary and also undertake compliance inspections.

Your skills and experience in communicating with people and businesses from all walks of life, including for vulnerable and/or indigenous individuals, will be key to your success in this role. Your ability to understand and influence the community and business organisations, as well as highly developed consultation and negotiation skills to uphold fair trading will also be essential for this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
