Within the Local Government, Racing, Gaming and Liquor Group (LGRGL), the Gaming and Wagering Regulation Division provides services to the Gaming and Wagering Commission to regulate gambling activities. This includes regulation of casino, community gaming and the wagering operations of the WA TAB.

The role
As the Executive Director Gaming and Wagering Regulation, you will assume the statutory role of Chief Casino Officer under the Gaming and Wagering Commission Act 1987 and Casino Control Act 1984. In this critical leadership position, you will oversee regulatory compliance and strengthen the integrity, capability, and outcomes of gaming and wagering regulation.
You will provide strategic leadership and expert advice on sector planning, regulatory activities, and contribute to legislative and policy reforms. Your role will also involve shaping regulatory frameworks and strategic directions to deliver positive outcomes for the gaming and wagering sectors and the broader community.
Working closely with stakeholders, including regulated entities, you will drive collaboration to achieve regulatory objectives. You will also provide authoritative advice to the Commission Chair, Director General, and Deputy Director General, on compliance issues, regulatory risks, performance, and related policy matters.
We are seeking a strategic leader with extensive experience in leading a high performing directorate/division in a regulatory environment with an ability to implement effective regulatory practice and principles. Your ability to provide high-level policy advice and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders will be critical to your success in this role.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.
