The opportunity

Downer's Energy & Utilities business is positioned at the forefront of Australia's energy transition, delivering critical transmission and high voltage infrastructure projects across the country.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator Transmission to join our Power Projects team. This role plays a critical part in preparing accurate, competitive and compliant tenders for complex transmission and HV infrastructure works, while safeguarding Downer's commercial outcomes.

Working closely with project delivery, engineering, commercial and supply chain teams, you will lead estimating activities across the full tender lifecycle from strategy development through to handover, ensuring alignment with the Downer Standard and client expectations.

What we're looking for

You are a commercially astute estimator with deep experience in the power and transmission sector, capable of leading complex tenders and supporting the development of less experienced estimators.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing timely, accurate and market competitive tenders across transmission and HV infrastructure projects

• Interpreting client requirements and developing clear estimating strategies

• Leading and supervising quantity take offs and cost build ups

• Managing subcontractor and supplier pricing, RFIs and tender clarifications

• Ensuring accuracy of labour rates, enterprise agreements, materials and subcontractor inputs

• Maintaining compliance with the Downer Standard, governance and approval processes

• Supporting post submission negotiations and clarifications

• Coaching and mentoring Estimators and Junior Estimators

• Contributing to continuous improvement in estimating systems and processes

• About you

• 8+ years' experience in the construction industry, ideally within power and transmission

• Proven experience delivering estimates for D and C, Construct Only and Fixed Lump Sum projects

• Strong capability across civil, structural and electrical estimating disciplines

• Sound understanding of engineering, planning and scheduling principles

• Proficient in estimating systems and Microsoft Office

• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels

• Degree in Engineering and or trade qualifications desirable
