Join our Rail & Transit Systems team as Supervisor – Services and Asset Management, supporting the infrastructure, facilities, plant and specialist equipment that keep Auburn Maintenance Centre operating.
As the Facility Maintenance Manager’s second-in-command, you will lead a small technical team and coordinate an extensive specialist contractor network. Your work will influence asset reliability, operational continuity and the centre’s ability to support trains moving through maintenance and back into service.
This is a predominantly office-based leadership role with a strong presence across the facility. You will use asset information to identify recurring issues, investigate root causes and translate findings into practical improvement projects. These may include equipment upgrades, control-system improvements or asset renewals delivered within a structured governance environment.
You will work with operational leaders, technical specialists, safety and commercial teams, customers, contractors, suppliers and original equipment manufacturers. It is a valuable opportunity to broaden your career beyond frontline maintenance into asset optimisation, people leadership, contractor governance and end-to-end project delivery.
This role provides an opportunity to deepen your capability across ISO 55001 standard;the international standard that defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving an asset management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the facilities maintenance team and specialist contractors, creating clear priorities and maintaining a strong focus on safe, high-quality delivery.
- Use asset and maintenance data to identify recurring failures, establish root causes and deliver improvements that strengthen reliability and operational performance.
- Plan maintenance and project activities around the demands of a live operational facility, minimising disruption while ensuring work is properly governed and closed out.
- Build productive relationships with operational leaders, customers, suppliers, original equipment manufacturers and internal support teams to secure alignment and deliver sustainable outcomes.
- Scope, justify and deliver asset improvement projects, coordinating approvals, budgets, technical input, contractors and stakeholder communications from concept through to completion.
What You Bring
- An electrical qualification or engineering related degree, supported by relevant facilities, industrial maintenance or asset management experience. Rail, heavy industrial, manufacturing, utilities, defence or aviation experience will be well regarded.
- Demonstrated capability leading technical teams and contractors in a safety-critical, regulated or complex industrial environment.
- A strong asset management mindset, including an understanding of how accurate work orders, asset hierarchies and maintenance records support better operational decisions.
- Experience investigating equipment failures and turning technical findings into structured maintenance improvements or small projects.
- Confident stakeholder, planning and communication skills, with experience using Maximo, SAP or a comparable maintenance management system.
