Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) is committed to providing the highest quality of Rollingstock & Overhaul services for both the local Queensland and wider Australian markets. We are currently seeking experienced Graduate Engineers to join our team based in Maryborough Qld.
About the role:
Our Graduate Mechanical Engineers will be responsible for the preparation of documents such as engineering specifications, engineering reports, mechanical calculations, design layouts, production drawings, maintenance instructions and cost estimates. The role may include requirements definition and development of reference designs for new Mechanical systems to be incorporated into a design baseline. Designs should be safe, compliant, reliable and cost effective. The role supports procurement, planning, production, test & commissioning and maintenance. The role may include development of integration plans for rolling stock and assurance of new systems and operating methodologies
- Design and analysis of rail vehicle components and systems
- Conduct design process reviews
- Design compliance with contractual requirements
- Preparation of engineering test procedures and activities
- Complete all documentation
- Actively listen and build positively on others’ ideas
Specific desired skills and experience:
- Degree in Engineering – Mechanical, Aerospace or Mechatronic
- Working towards registration on the National Engineering Register
- Can work unsupervised and be a hands-on team player.

- Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks
- Flexible and resourceful
- Proactive and professional
- Strong communication skills
- Honest, respectful and transparent communication style
- Microsoft suite computer skills
- 3D CAD system experience
