As a result, we are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join our Rail Systems Engineering team based in Wellington, New Zealand. The purpose of the Site Superintendent is to be responsible for the coordination and supervision of construction team members and equipment, in terms of time, cost, safety and quality on Downer’s Rail Infrastructure Projects and others.
As a key part of our team you will:
- Ensure construction works completed align with Downer’s Values and requirements
- Manage construction activities and resources in conjunction with the Delivery Manager to meet project construction requirements regarding best quality, timeliness, efficiency and safety
- Comply to Downer’s QA policies and standards
- Effectively manage processes and provide leadership to the construction team members
- Optimising the use of project construction resources
- Promote harmonious teamwork and culture
- Complete various reports in project & client agreed formats
- Ensure Construction works are completed without harm to any staff, clients and yourself in the work place
- Follow safety, environmental and sustainability performance measures to meet Company targets e.g. LTI, TEIFR, energy targets
To excel as part of our collaborative, forward thinking team you’ll bring:
- A relevant infrastructure qualification or be working toward one (Desirable)
- Knowledge of civil construction, electrical, mechanical, signalling and train control system elements (Desirable)
- Safety accredited with the relevant New Zealand authority
- A proven track record of supervising teams in Rail Systems construction
- Demonstrated competencies in Rail System construction
- Clear demonstration of leadership behaviors that empower other
- A proven track record in developing a culture that supports SQE management, encouraging and rewarding excellence
- The ability to deal with unexpected events/make decisions, both financial and operational to provide confident and competent direction to work team
- Customer/client relationship skills
- Provide solutions to unexpected events that promote a “continual improvement” philosophy
- Financial decision-making skills
- Demonstrated time management and planning skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to provide quality output under pressure
- Good level of computer and Microsoft office skills
