This year, we are offering three types of Downer Scholarships. The scholarships are available to students who are studying towards a Washington Accord recognised Engineering Degree.

Our scholarships are awarded on academic criteria, as well as how well applicants fit with our Downer Values of integrity, excellence, courage and collaboration.

Applicable Study:

Part II/III of BE (Hons) in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. Scholarships may be awarded for one year initially, and subsequent award will be based on overall academic and operational performance.

Dependent on applications, scholarships may be awarded for the following:

AF Downer Scholarship $12,000

This is our top scholarship award. We are looking for a future leader who has strong academic results, and has taken on a leadership role within their community or through extra-curricular activities at their University.

The Graham Brown Memorial Scholarship (Joint Scholarship with NZTA) $5,000

Graham Brown (1945-2012) was a highly skilled technical driller with a passion for his work. He was also a family man, a role model to others and has truly lived by his values. This scholarship honours Graham’s contribution to our business and wider civil infrastructure community by furthering the education of a student. We are looking for an undergraduate who aligns with our values and is passionate about engineering.

Downer $5,000 scholarships

We are looking for undergraduates who align with our values, and are passionate about engineering.

All scholarships offer:

• Paid vacation work with Downer is required, which will count towards field experience course requirements;
• Generally during the final year of studies, undergraduate students will be offered a permanent role with us, which will commence after graduation.

Please note, only applicants who are not receiving a scholarship from another company will be considered.

Successful candidates will automatically be offered a Summer Internship and Graduate role with Downer but you are required to apply separately for these roles.
