RTS have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Operations Support Officer (FOSO) to join our team to provide support to Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM).
About the role:
The FOSO provides technical liaison and support to Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), High-Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT) drivers or other MTM technical staff on a round the clock basis. This position will liaise with TLS technical/engineering staff to provide first line fault identification, mitigation and reporting on the HCMT. This includes the provision of information into the Downer business about fleet issues, develop countermeasures and action recovery plans to optimise the Availability and Reliability of the HCMT fleet.
This is a full-time permanent position operating on an attractive 24/7 roster. This position will be based in our Pakenham Fleet Maintenance Centre, Melbourne, Victoria.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide timely investigation of all service incidents and failures
- Ensure that the business system procedures are followed so that all vehicle history and contractual deliverable's are entered accurately and in a timely manner
- Integrate 5S and Lean Management ideals in all processes, procedures and working environment
- Ensure that notification and communication procedures are followed
- Ensure prompt rectification of defects on rollingstock
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant engineering standards, policies and procedures
- Implement standardised ways of working across all shifts
- Consult with engineering and maintenance personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
Skills and knowledge required:
- Highly developed oral/written communication skills, including the ability to conduct detailed investigations and to provide clear and decisive results and written reports
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide rapid and effective engineering support to management and trade staff
- Excellent computer skills with experience in the management of information systems
- Be dynamic and able to think and act quickly to re - prioritise workload to respond to fleet and operational changes
- Knowledge of relevant Australian and International Standards
- Solid knowledge of formal engineering change processes and reliability improvement processes
- Knowledge of quality assurance procedures
- Trouble shooting procedures and methods
- Rollingstock Subsystems Operation desirable.
