Downer Rail & Transit Systems a leading name in the manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock across Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Shunter to join our team in NSW - Auburn.
The Auburn Maintenance Centre is one of six primary operational facilities, from where the maintenance of the Downer contracted NSW rollingstock fleet is either conducted or coordinated.

Reporting to the Duty Yard Master and working on a 24/7 rotating roster, our Shunters undertake train driving, train preparation and other assigned duties. In addition, you will also be responsible for the organisation of the yard area and rail vehicle stabling to allow all departures to occur as planned without delays. You will be encouraged to identify and raise opportunities for service level improvement or process changes to support the goals of the business.
About You:
- Meet the requirements of a rail safety worker
- National Competency for Train Shunting – preferred
- National Competency for Train Driving – an advantage
- Competent using Microsoft Office applications - Word and Excel
- Open to working shifts
- Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment or unsupervised as required
- Knowledge and commitment to ensuring a safe workplace
