A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our civil engineering laboratory team for a focused and determined team player who wishes to start their career in the 'technical services' sector. You will join the Auckland team based at our Penrose Lab as a Laboratory Technician assisting the team in delivering recently awarded contracts that are expected to contribute positively to our Auckland region communities.
Road Science is New Zealand’s leading designer and supplier of bitumen and bitumen based products. We have world-class manufacturing plants and storage facilities for bitumen, emulsions and polymer modified binders. Road Science has five IANZ-accredited civil engineering laboratories and a number of project specific mobile laboratories. We also provide expertise in pavement design, technical and consultancy services to our clients.
About the role
Based at our Auckland Laboratory and reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will provide a testing and technical support services for projects throughout the North Island. Our laboratory is responsible for ensuring all products - such as asphalt, construction aggregates and soils are tested, to the appropriate quality, standards, and customer specifications. This role will include laboratory, field testing and pavement investigations, giving a great variety of work and the opportunity to work in different locations.
About you
As the successful candidate for this role, ideally you will possess:
- Laboratory experience, preferably in the civil engineering field, both in laboratory and field-based testing
- A relevant science tertiary qualification will be an added advantage
- A strong attention to detail with solid MS Excel & Word skills
- The ability to work as part of a team and with some leadership experience
- Excellent communication skills
- A current full Class 1 driver’s licence
You will also need some flexibility to work at night and during weekends when the work demands. You will be motivated to take on a number of different tasks for different people and enjoy solving problems and delivering outcomes to customers. The current team enjoy working together and having fun whilst getting the job done.
