Downer has a long history of delivering transport infrastructure projects under a variety of contracting models. Services include the design and construction of light rail, heavy rail, bridge and roads, as well as track and station work, signalling and rail safety technology.

Our Northern Infrastructure Business have an opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager to join the Infrastructure Projects team and be part of an exciting project. This is also an opportunity for an up-and-coming Senior Project Engineer looking for the next step to challenge their skills.

About The Role:

You will be the single point of accountability for the successful delivery of the project and contracts under your control. Your success is measured across Zero Harm, Commercial, Program and Quality outcomes for our client.

Specific Accountabilities Include:

• Actively promote a zero-harm culture through undertaking regular safety observations and leading toolbox talks and by engaging in safety conversations covering all personnel on the project.
• Work in accordance with Downers values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership to the project team.
• Maintain effective relationships and manage the clients expectations.
• Develop strategic alliances with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure the project execution plan is developed and implemented and work is carried out in accordance with Downer procedures and work instructions.
• Monitor progress to ensure the project is on schedule, within budget and meeting performance targets taking corrective actions when necessary to address deviations.
• Create a realistic project schedule for each job, conversant with project complexity and client requirements. Identify schedule related risks and opportunities in the process.
• Provide visible leadership and motivate staff, and ensure they are engaged with the project and aligned in delivering successful outcomes.

About You:

• Degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Demonstrated capability in Civil Construction with exposure to major infrastructure projects.
• Strong engineering experience within Civil and Rail infrastructure Construction.
• Must be RPEQ qualified or working towards
• Proven experience from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 major civil contractor.
• Abilility to interpret and apply contracts' terms and legislation provisions
• Developed financial planning and budgeting skills and delivering positive results.
• Capable of managing designs and specifications
• Developed analytical and planning/prioritisation skills
• Ensure that sub-contractors' and suppliers are engaged in line with Downer's procurement procedures, specifically ensuring that they deliver on the Zero Harm imperatives and their specific subcontract/supply agreement.
• Possess exceptional negotiating and influencing skills.
