About the role:

Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. We are currently seeking a Team Leader to join our onsite team based at Otago Corrections Facility.

The Team Leader is key to the successful delivery of maintenance services to the facility. Reporting to the Site Manager, this is a role that requires a hands-on practical approach and provides an opportunity for an ambitious and resilient individual to lead a team to deliver services within KPI and to provide quality, value for money work.

Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments, so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times. You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours.

About you:

On a daily basis, you will be leading, managing and supporting the undertaking of scheduled maintenance services, first response and reactive jobs in order to mitigate disruption to the customer’s activities, all the while ensuring safe working practices are implemented and corrective actions are taken where required.

You will also bring with you:

  • Trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (ideally plumbing, electrical or HVAC background)
  • Proactive approach with a strong customer service ethic
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Intermediate PC and keyboard skills
  • Proven experience in the operational leadership of a multi trade service delivery team
  • Experience in planning, scheduling and rostering people resources
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Motivated, positive and outcome orientated
  • Hold a current, full driver’s license
