From irrigation schemes stretching hundreds of kilometres to the design, build, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plant, we have the knowledge and collaborative approach to deliver high performance water infrastructure.

We are looking for a driven, fast-learning Assistant Contract Manager to join our Water team in Invercargill. You will work with our wider management team and will be partly responsible for the delivery of our key contracts with the Invercargill City Council & Southland District Council as well as help support the water construction/ civil projects within the region. This is a great role for a driven individual looking to make their mark, with the goal of moving into a Contract Manager position.

The assistant Contract Manager will work closely with the Contract Manager and respective clients to deliver successful and sustainable contracts and projects.

About the opportunity:

Organisation is key in this role, where you will be providing support/ or leading forward planning, coordinating resource and let’s not forget the best part – delivering high quality work to the community you live in. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our water maintenance/ construction teams and your day will include but not be limited to:

  • Producing project methodology, budgets and programmes
  • Collaborative Stakeholder Engagement and involvement in client meetings
  • Collaboratively working on Tenders’ submissions and quotations
  • Focusing on industry leading quality and health and safety
  • Overall responsibility for specific project implementation and delivery of the water contract
  • Directing and leading managers, supervisors, and their teams as well as sub-contractors

About you:

Ideally you will have a qualification in water, drainage, construction or similar, and you would need to be able to demonstrate success in Contract or Project Management experience. Ideally in water or drainage contracts, but not subject to. You’ll have positive leadership skills, collaborative by nature and the ability to lead and enable others and excel in utilising your adaptable communication skills.

Combining these together, you’ll be driven, committed and hard-working. You’ll have strong time management skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You’re passionate about delivering great results and can comfortably communicate with other managers and field staff to deliver on time and budget.
