The General Disposals Reform Project (GDRP) seeks to review current procedures associated with the General Disposals (GD) process in order to identify opportunities for improvement, remove duplication and deliver Disposal Services that are efficient, effective and integrated across the Australian Defence Organisation.
This team will be dedicated to reviewing the E2E process of Disposals that considers the management of Disposal decision-making processes and its interconnectivity with the Defence Capability Manual.
The Lean Six Sigma Subject Matter Expert is responsible for supporting the Program Lead in the development of strategies, priorities and operational practices in support of GDRP objectives, including the provision of strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders, in relation to Lean Six Sigma Management matters.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist subject matter expertise and advice in relation to Lean Six Sigma Management
- Meet agreed GDRP project deliverables on time, on budget and in full
- Work within established GDRP project control processes and practices where applicable
- Develop and implement project related documents and other briefs or presentations as necessary
- Manage and report on the status of Lean Six Sigma Management in the GDRP in relation to scope, cost, schedule and risks
- Have a sound knowledge of, and comply with, applicable legislative frameworks and government decision-making processes that relate to Lean Six Sigma Management

- Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with the skill, competence and currency requirements
Key Selection Criteria
- Sound stakeholder management and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the Lean Six Sigma Management function with the ability to translate into strategy and practice
- Demonstrated relationship management in order to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
- Experience in working with high-performing teams to meet aggressive and demanding deadlines
- Ability to undertake complex analysis and interpretation
- Ability to apply judgement when managing highly complex and/or sensitive issues
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary and/or relevant qualifications and experience in Lean Six Sigma Management
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt communications to suit the target audience
- Experience in the development, management and monitoring of high performing teams
- Extensive experience in Lean Six Sigma Management at all levels
- Sound communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent decision-making skills and judgement
- NV1 Clearance required
This role is based in Canberra, however remote working will be considered. Please note, this role is a short-term based contract.
