About the job:
We are after experienced Excavator Operators to join our whanau, deliver to project plans, and get home safely at the end of each day. Your day to day will include the operation of machinery including diggers, drills, loaders and rollers to support earthmoving, trench digging, concreting, curb line dig outs and backfilling works. As we are one team, you will be confident being hands on to help out when excavation work is on pause.
We need mechanically minded people to monitor machinery, to ensure we’re compliant with Health & Safety, environmental and QA policies and targets while minimising costs and waste where we can. With the confidence to collaborate with your team and supervisors, you’ll collectively ensure works are completed to the Downer standard.
This is primarily a Monday – Friday, full-time-permanent position based out of our Tauranga depot and involves occasional weekend and night work.
About you:
You will have plenty of experience operating Excavators (1.5T - 5T) within the civil construction industry, particularly on drainage and roading projects. You will take pride in your work, be a solid team player and like to have a good laugh! We’d really value:
- Ideally you will have you'll Class 2 drivers licence with W, T, R endorsements
- Practical work experience in carpentry, road maintenance, concreting and/ or structures work
- Strong planning skills and the ability to deal with unexpected events and problem solve
- Good communication skills with the confidence to speak up
- A high level of physical fitness with the ability to carry out manual tasks
- The ability to demonstrate Leadership qualities that empower others
