Working with customers in mining operations for over 80 years, Mineral Technologies, a subsidiary of Downer, delivers innovative, cost effective process solutions for Iron Ore, Mineral Sands, Silica Sands, Coal, Chromite, Gold, Tin, Tungsten, Tantalum and a wide range of other fine minerals worldwide. Due to continued business growth we are seeking a Process Engineer or Metallurgist to join our North American team.

Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Product Engineer, the purpose of the Product Engineer will be to design and provide specifications for Mineral Technologies magnetic and electrostatic separation equipment, for both production and sales purposes. The Product Engineer will also ensure all performance requirements, company standards and legislative requirements are met and adhered to.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Ensure product designs and modifications are designed for safe manufacture, operation and disposal
  • Provide timely responses to equipment specification and pricing enquiries from the Business Development team
  • Develop technical equipment packages for Mineral Technologies and approved suppliers to enable specification and accurate manufacture of equipment
  • Form trusted relationships with customers, identify their needs.
  • Provide technical support to the business development team, including design, specification and pricing of equipment for quotations
  • To design/improve Mineral Technologies equipment via a continuous improvement mindset and absorbing manufacturing and customer feedback

 ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor of mechanical or mechatronic engineering or mechanical-related trade
  • >5 years’ experience in equipment manufacturing or operating and maintaining mineral separation equipment.
  • Experience working with and understanding SolidWorks assembly models and drawings advantageous.
  • Experience in the use of PDM or similar vault-style
  • Certified practicing engineer/design qualifications advantageous.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP Software (JDEGS) advantageous
  • Attention to detail and practically minded, solutions-focussed personality
