Downer offers a range of services for the utility sector, incorporating traditional power and gas, renewable energy and technological communications services.
Our Power Systems team have recently secured several major projects and are seeking an experienced Project Director to join our team supporting the delivery of significant transmission line projects.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This position will report to the Operations manager and lead, plan, direct and control the design and construction of the allocated project, through assigned Project Managers, to ensure completion in accordance with Zero Harm objectives, client requirements and time and costs constraints to achieve profit objectives.
- Manage all aspects of project delivery from site and team-setup to handover through the application of Downer Project Management tools and systems.
- Develop and review construction planning and monitor progress of allocated projects to ensure they are on schedule and within quality and cost estimates.
- Ensure projects provide support departments with accurate and timely information and reports.
- Implement effective internal auditing.
- Work with operations to establish active, effective business improvement teams to eliminate waste and minimise the cost of our operations.
- Maintain, utilise and contribute to the effective development of Downer business systems, procedures and plans including quality.

- Prepare operational and capital annual budgets and business plans, in accordance with current requirements.
- This position will require regular travel.
ABOUT YOU:
- Project management / engineering degree or equivalent required
- 10-15 years’ experience in the engineering and/or construction industry.
- five years’ plus in a similar position managing multiple projects or similar level of projects in value and complexity.
- Demonstrated ability in proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and develop new business opportunities.
- Project planning; organisational and time management
- Ability to prepare operational budgets and analyse financial information.
- A good understanding of, and experience with, the business challenges impacting upon
