Our Northern Infrastructure Business have an opportunity for a Senior Digital Engineer/Lead to join the Infrastructure Projects team in our Milton Offices. You will be accountable for leading the QLD team on a technically challenging project. Your experience around rail infrastructure will be well utilised and highly regarded.
About the Role
- As an integral part of the Northern Infrastructure Business, you will serve as a subject matter expert, working closely with the wider Downer DE team.
- Collaborate with the OMF Project Delivery Team and Design Consultants to effectively implement the Project DE Strategy, gradually transitioning towards integrated digital workflows.
- Offer expert advice and knowledge in the field of Infrastructure-related DE Technology and its application to transport infrastructure and maintenance facilities.
- Stay connected to the current state of on-site DE-related issues by facilitating and reviewing lessons learned workshops when necessary.
- Contribute insights, lessons learned, and input to the development of the broader Downer DE Implementation Strategy.
- Provide DE training to community groups, management, and site-based teams, including sub-consultants and sub-contractors, as needed.
- Possess a thorough understanding of specific project delivery methods associated with a Design and Construct (D&C) contract and comply with relevant statutory requirements, such as "The Building Act," and other AS/NZS standards as required.
- Manage input from consultant architects, engineers, specialist equipment suppliers, and the commercial team to incorporate works into the overall DE model.
- Take responsibility for overseeing the project's overall modelling strategies and BIM output throughout all project delivery stages.
- Manage clash detection and VDR/VDC sessions effectively.
- Implement BIM 3D, 4D, and 5D across the projects.
About You
- 5+ years’ experience in DE and/or BIM Management with detailed understanding of Geospatial requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in Design or Construction
- A proven track record in Digital Engineering for a major construction or consulting business
- Relevant industry training, and preferably, hold a tertiary qualification or equivalent.
- A proven leader in the field of Digital Engineering with exceptional ability to work within teams to consistently produce innovative solutions to technical problems
- Financial and commercial acumen as well as proven project management skills
- A strong customer focus including the ability to develop project solutions that provide value for money
- Understanding of BIM Concepts and Standards (ISO19650).
- Knowledge of advanced Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methods.
- Understanding of the capabilities/outputs of other BIM software packages utilised by subcontractors e.g Civil3D, Synchro, 12D.
- Understanding of the BIM coordination and design review software packages.
