Mechanical Fitters required at our East Preston Victoria facility.

Downer Rail & Transit Systems business has a wide portfolio of projects. RTS leverages the in-house capabilities within Downer to offer integrated solutions covering rollingstock, infrastructure, rail systems, operations, and maintenance, as well as system integration.

Our Mechanical Fitters form a key component of the Downer Rail and Transit Reworks team and will be primarily responsible for the modifications of new and refurbished Rollingstock. Casual contract with ongoing day and afternoon shifts.

About the role:

We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for a our tram upgrade project, this work would suit a mechanical fitter who has worked in a manufacturing environment, this will be a repetitive process and strip and rebuild.

Specific desired skills and experience:

• Must have Mechanical Fitting trade qualifications (Certificate III Required).
• Ability to work on a rotating roaster.
• Background in manufacturing and/or production desired.
• Ability to read plans and schematics and follow agreed work schedules.
• Ability to work unsupervised and be a hands-on team player.
• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant desirable
• Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks.
• Flexible and resourceful.
• Strong communication skills.
