This is a permanent role, requiring 5 days a week in the office, located in North Ryde. You will be working in a collaborative, close-knit team.

Reporting to the General Manager of Finance (Corporate), this newly created role will bridge finance and technology. You will partner directly with the CIO and IT leadership to optimise IT investments and operating costs, manage budgets, and drive cost-effective outcomes. Your work will influence the success of critical IT initiatives, from cloud migrations to cybersecurity projects.

About Your Role

The Finance Manager role is responsible for Strategic Financial Leadership, Operational Excellence, Team Leadership & Development, Risk Management and Compliance and Stakeholder Collaboration. This includes:

• Partner with the CIO and IT leaders to align financial planning (budgets, forecasts, long-range plans) with organisational priorities.
• Oversee the IT department’s financial performance, including monthly/quarterly reporting, variance analysis, and cost control.
• Translate complex IT initiatives into clear financial narratives, enabling data-driven decisions for the executive team.
• Provide financial reviews for any IT vendor contract renewals/ renegotiations.
• Drive cost transparency for Downer Digital costs across the organisation for cost management.
• Oversee the IT recharge process and dashboard reporting.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements for IT expenditures, including compliance with the Delegation Financial Authority and PO requisition.
• Liaise with external auditors for the half yearly audit, including reviewing intangible assets.
• Lead and mentor a Management Accountant (direct report), fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth.

About You:

You are a dynamic communicator, with the ability to influence and engage both finance and non-finance stakeholders. An agile problem-solver with a passion for driving innovation and optimising processes, you thrive on finding solutions that propel the business forward.

You will also bring with you:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business. CPA/CA or equivalent certification.
• 7+ years of experience in finance roles, with at least 3 years in technology finance (IT budgeting, project finance, or tech sector).
• Detailed understanding of management and financial accounting practices.
• Experience in process documentation, review and re-engineering.
• Proven track record of managing and developing teams in a matrixed environment.
