Project Engineer | Power Projects (VIC)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Power Projects team is currently managing significant HV substation projects in Victoria and is looking for an enthusiastic Project Engineer to join our team. This is not your typical role; you will be involved in various aspects of the project cycle, including procurement, scheduling, estimating, quality management, resource management, and financial management.
As a member of a larger team, you will be based out of our Keysborough office and on site as required and report to the Program Manager and collaborate closely with multiple internal stakeholders and frontline leaders. Your primary responsibility will be to provide practical construction expertise, ensuring that the projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Assess risks in construction to ensure safe execution and compliance with environmental and quality standards.
- Coordinate and manage construction engineering activities to ensure timely, budget-friendly, and quality-driven project delivery.
- Lead by example and consistently promote key aspects of Zero Harm when working with operational teams.
- Collaborate with project teams to form active and effective business improvements that eliminate waste and minimise operational costs.
- Take the lead in managing subcontractors while advising on commercial matters and performance and ensure projects are completed in accordance with Downers Delivery Management Governance procedures.
- Assist the program manager in managing and delivering the entire program of works, including developing tools and systems to assist the wider team.

ABOUT YOU
- A Trade or Engineering (Electrical, Civil or similar) qualification and/or a Diploma in Project Management. Ideally you would need to have experience delivering tier 1 projects.
- Estimating/procurement experience is an advantage.
- High proficiency with computers and relevant software.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders and up and downstream.
