We’re on the lookout for a strategic, people-first and commercially savvy Head of People and Culture Business Partnering to lead our HR Business Partnering function across Australia and New Zealand. This is a key senior leadership role reporting directly to the Executive General Manager, People & Culture – Energy & Utilities.

The Opportunity

As the ANZ Head of P&C Business Partnering, you’ll lead a team of experienced People & Culture Managers across ANZ. You’ll translate our strategic business goals into progressive people strategies, delivering change that’s meaningful, measurable, and sustainable.

You’ll partner closely with our ANZ Heads of Learning & Development and ANZ Heads of Resourcing & Talent Acquisition to build a strong leadership pipeline, uplift capability, and enhance our employee experience across a dynamic, dispersed, and industrially complex workforce.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive alignment between HR strategy and business outcomes across multiple lines of business.
  • Influence and support EGM-level leaders through strong commercial, cultural and strategic partnering.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of People & Culture Managers across ANZ.
  • Guide cultural change initiatives, workforce planning, and performance uplift.
  • Shape the organisation model, support strategic workforce planning, and lead succession and talent programs.
  • Champion continuous improvement, employee experience, and compliance.
  • Be a visible, values-driven leader who role models our Zero Harm and Downer Difference commitments.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven senior HR leadership experience (10+ years), ideally within a complex, industrial or infrastructure environment.
  • Deep expertise across change-management, ER/IR, performance, and workforce strategy.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and driving cross-functional outcomes.
  • Commercially minded, strategically curious, and confident in navigating ambiguity.
  • An inspiring people leader who builds trust, lifts capability, and delivers results.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business or a related discipline (postgraduate highly regarded).
