We are currently seeking Mechanical Fitters to join our dynamic in Pakenham. These full-time, 6 month - fixed-term positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the modification of new and refurbished HCMT rollingstock.

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality modifications and ensuring the performance and reliability of our rollingstock. You will work as part of a collaborative team, applying your expertise in mechanical engineering to meet project demands.

Skills & Experience:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Trade-qualified: Certificate III in – Mechanical Trade (Fitter)
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card – highly desirable
  • Prior rail industry experience – highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently while remaining a hands-on team player
  • Strong organisational and task prioritisation skills
  • Flexible, resourceful, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Experience with LEAN or KANBAN methodologies – highly desirable
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Proficiency in drilling, tapping, and cutting stainless steel using powered and handheld tools
  • Experience in removing and replacing rail components
  • Ability to caulk and apply finishing techniques
  • Knowledge of torque wrench usage and checks
  • Additional certifications such as Forklift, Dogman, Crane, Working at Heights, and EWP tickets – desirable
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
