This role offers flexible working arrangements, a collaborative team culture, strong leadership support, and genuine long-term career development opportunities within a business that invests in its people and future.

The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Buyer to join our Energy & Utilities business, supporting a regional portfolio of projects and contracts. Reporting to the Procurement Lead, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the right materials and services are sourced at the right cost, time and location to enable successful project delivery.

Working closely with project delivery teams, project controls, and supply chain stakeholders, you will be responsible for driving compliant, strategic and value-focused procurement activity across the full project lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being embedded in project environments, building strong supplier relationships, and contributing directly to cost, schedule and performance outcomes.

You’ll be part of a collaborative procurement function within Energy & Utilities, supporting major infrastructure programs that deliver essential services to communities. This is a full-time opportunity offering a hybrid working model, exposure to complex projects, and strong internal career pathways within a Tier 1 organisation.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver sourcing, purchasing and contracting activities in line with project procurement plans
  • Manage RFx processes, negotiations, supplier engagement and contract formation
  • Ensure compliance with Downer standards, P2P processes, DFA and governance frameworks
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and manage procurement risks and opportunities across cost, schedule and quality

What we offer

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Supportive leadership with a strong focus on development and career progression
  • Access to Perks@Downer discounts (financial, travel and wellbeing benefits)
  • Industry-leading learning and development programs including THRIVE and EmpowHER
  • Dedicated internal mobility and succession pathways within Energy & Utilities
  • Opportunity to work within a Tier 1 ASX-listed organisation delivering critical infrastructure projects
  • Inclusive, values-driven culture with strong safety and wellbeing focus

What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain management, procurement, engineering, project management or a related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in procurement, project management and/or contract management within construction, utilities, energy, oil & gas or similar industries (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of procure-to-pay and source-to-contract processes
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
