DSI Underground (a SANDVIK owned company) is one of Australia’s largest, leading manufacturers, suppliers and exporters of specialist strata reinforcement and support products to the underground coal and metalliferous mining sectors. DSI Underground also provides galvanising and other related services to the mining, civil, marine, commercial, and industrial industries.

About the Role

Based at our Heatherbrae, Newcastle Head Office. The Junior Accountant role reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with the Senior Financial Accountant and broader Finance Team to carry out accounting and finance functions and support the accounts teams.

Core duties include:

• Compiling monthly accounts and reports including, but not limited to, HSE reporting, sales reporting, monthly accruals, and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintaining the organization’s Fixed Asset Registers, including record keeping for capital expenditure requests and monthly review of actual v budgeted spend on capital projects
• Reconciliation of Inter-company balances & preparation of monthly reporting pack
• Supporting the Finance Manger with ad-hoc compliance requirements such as ABS surveys, Payment Times Reporting, tax matters etc.

About You

To be successful in the role you will hold (or be working towards) a Tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting (or Business), to a standard satisfying the requirements for professional accounting membership.

You will also possess all the following attributes:

• Experience with computerised accounting systems, Excel and Adobe
• Developed analytical ability and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of IFRS requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a Finance team and multitask

The following attributes will also be highly regarded:

• Practical experience in a similar role
• Experience in Finance within Manufacturing industry
• Experience in Navision ERP system.
